The Beginning
Kimberley developed a deep connection with animals as a young child. She was fascinated with German Shepherd Dogs and after continually asking her parents for her own puppy, her father bought her an 8 week old German Shepherd at the age of 12.
She named the dog Roscoe and joined a local dog training club, where she began learning about obedience work and dog training methods.
Kimberley started to compete with her dog and won the Junior Dog Handler’s Championship at 14 years of age.
This inspired her to follow a career working with dogs and had her heart set on becoming a Police Dog Handler.
On finishing high school her parents insisted she complete her education. She thereafter attended Strathclyde University where she was based at the Scottish School of Sport Studies.
On completing her Degree, Kimberley gained employment as a Personal Trainer in Edinburgh. She loved the gym environment especially weight training and found working with clients to achieve their personal fitness goals, sports specific ambitions or recovering from injury extremely rewarding.
However, she still felt her greater passion was canines.
Vision
In 2002,
Kimberley left the fitness industry and joined Strathclyde Police
(now part of The Police Service of Scotland) the following year,
becoming a Divisional Police Officer.
After 6 years of policing,
she joined the Police Dog Unit and after a year as a Police Dog Handler, she competed in her first police dog trial with her Police Dog, Roxy and won the trial for novice handlers.
She thrived in fulfilling her childhood dream, working with
3 General Purpose Dogs (German Shepherds),
1 Drugs, Firearms
plus Cash Detection Dog (Cocker Spaniel) and
another Drugs Detection Dog (Springer Spaniel).
Kimberley gained extensive knowledge and experience in working dogs, understanding canine behaviour and training dogs.
She remained within the Dog Unit until retiring early in 2023.
Within the 36 years of having dogs, she has also rescued 2 German Shepherds, rehabilitating both to live within her family home.

The Reiki Journey
Kimberley’s Reiki journey began 25 years ago,
when she was attending a Trichologist’s clinic suffering from alopecia.
After months of laser treatment her hair was still deteriorating and the trichologist recommended Reiki. She knew nothing about this complimentary therapy and was rather sceptical. But due to the constant
hair loss, she was willing to try anything.
After her first session she was still very uncertain but decided to return. She attended 6 sessions and noticed new hair appearing on the back of her scalp and after a few more weeks, all the patches had started to improve.
It was then she recognised the power of Reiki healing.
Over the years she has received Reiki from various practitioners but it was the difficult loss of her first police dog Roxy in 2019 that paved her new career path.
Returning to Reiki to assist her through the grief, it led her to begin training in levels 1 and 2 of Usui Holy Fire Reiki.
She continued her courses and became a fully trained Reiki Master Teacher, Animal Reiki Master Teacher and Karuna Reiki Master Practitioner.
During this time Kimberley also began her training in Animal Communication.
She contacted an Animal Communicator regarding Roxy and was truly fascinated and touched by the profound connection he experienced.
As a spiritual individual and having retired from the Police Service, she set out to research this energetic connection we have with our animals and how there is so much more we can learn from their interaction through intuitive/spiritual communication.
This can provide us with a greater understanding about their own behaviour and emotions on a much deeper level.
After a period of self-development and gaining significant experience in
Reiki and Animal Communication,
Theia Healing Therapies was established.
